Originally intended to further the Helminth House plot, Episode 19 became an experiment in improvisation when an owl landed on Dr. Breign's head. Not wanting to squander this rare opportunity, the producers simply let the events play out and unfold. Though the technique yielded the episode as you see it today, the aftermath was different entirely. The owl began burrowing in Dr. Breign's grey matter shortly after his final line and refused to leave, causing paralysis before it was finally shot with a tranquilizer and caged to be trained for its next appearances. Dr. Breign had to endure two months of rehab before he could work again, and even today his left tread runs a bit slower than his right due to the injury.
