In order to create the special "Zam" effect for the fourth to last frame of Episode 21, our visual effects team first procured 14 tons of white phosphorous. Mixed with the pigment of the (now) extinct Mediterranean Murex for a purple blast, the substance was placed in a 3X scale model of the Snail Factory and detonated. Of the 92 effects technicians involved, only four survived and all came away with severe burns which disfigured them for life. Said the comic's author, "It was totally worth it, just look at the shade of purple!"
